Pilote Update October 2021

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank all our customers and suppliers for your support in Pilote’s first year and half of business. Whilst the world has been in turmoil with Covid-19 the motor industry has gone from strength to strength. We have managed to triple in size over the first year and a half, with upstairs office space and customer lounge as well as being able to fit over 20 vehicles in our showroom. This gives you the opportunity to view all our stock under great lighting, clean and away from the elements.

Our team has grown too with Graham heading up the detailing part of the business which come January will be expanding to keep up with demand. Chelsea has joined us full-time to head up our administrative department as well as accounts assistant. Gary(not Potts) has joined us to head up our Media department and brings a wealth of knowledge with him. Finally we have Hugo and Anthony who are part-time with us as showroom host/Sales/Drivers.

Our detailing business continues to grow, with Graham’s vast experience we have gained CARPRO Accreditation. We’ve upgraded our facilities putting in a ramp, airline, new lighting, new detailing equipment and restocking with what we believe to be the best cleaning products available. Give Graham a call or send him a message to get a free quote for your pride and joy.

So from all of us at Pilote, thank you for your continued support and please pop in for a coffee.

Update - Pilote Classics Ltd

COVID-19

From the Pilote team,

We look at the current situation with Covid-19, and it feels very surreal.

As people with young families and a teenager in his abruptly ended GCSE year, there’s no denying these are challenging and unnerving times.

Our clients and friends in the industry are in our thoughts and prayers, and we hope you and your families stay safe and well.

As for Pilote, we have decided to remain open by appointment only, and we have a fantastic, safe and deep-cleansed showroom facility where you can view our great cars on a one client at a time basis.

If you’re further afield or can’t travel, we’d be delighted to arrange a home visit with the car of interest or even a virtual tour via FaceTime or Skype.

Winston Churchill said, “Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.”

It’s clear from the events unfolding day by day that we need to be prepared to sit and listen to sound advice to ensure this passes as quickly and with as little devastation as possible, and that’s precisely our intention for the coming weeks and months.

We have been overwhelmed by the support shown for our new venture, and we look forward to having a fantastic launch party as soon as this crisis has passed.

God bless,

Gary and Jonny.

Driven by Pilote

In August I had the chance to spend a week in the new Porsche Cayenne Coupe Turbo, what a car!

From the moment you jump into this near 2.5 tonne SUV, you immediately ascertain that you’re cocooned in something exceptional. Leave any baggage you may have about its looks at the door, and a machine of superlatives will be your reward!

The Turbo I drove was launch specification with nearly every option ticked including the expensive PCCB (PORSCHE CARBON CERAMIC BRAKES). While there’s an ongoing debate from fellow petrolhead’s about Carbon Ceramic brakes for the road, I would say this option would be top of my list. They work wonderfully well with the PASM system (PORSCHE ADAPTIVE SUSPENSION MANAGEMENT) and turn this into something akin to the world’s most desirable hot hatch beater! Covering A and B roads at an unnerving rate of knots and offering the driver great confidence through tight twisty turns with just a playful hint of oversteer.

In summary, if you’re looking for a twist on the super estates offered by AMG division in Alfalterbach or Audi RS division in Ingolstadt, then this Porsche ticks every box.

Busy, busy, busy!

A lot has happened in the last few weeks since we launched the Pilote landing page.

Photoshoot Pilote -

Motorsport highlights saw Gazoo Toyota win the Le Mans 24 hours under the steam of legendary racing driver Fernando Alonso.

We’ve also had the excellent and incredibly diverse Super Sunday Scramble at Bicester Heritage.

Then, of course, The Goodwood Festival of Speed, where we saw all things new from McLaren, Ferrari and Porsche amongst others (our particular favourite being the Porsche 935 homage).

Finally, quite possibly the pinnacle of British motorsport, the Silverstone F1 this weekend past. Lewis Hamilton cemented himself at the top of the driver’s championship table, 39 points clear with 11 race weekends to go.

And in the last 48 hours, we’ve seen Eoin Morgan’s England Cricket side win the World Cup, Novak Djokovic win Wimbledon for a 5th time as well as B. Weisberger winning the Scottish Open in a playoff. Deep breaths everyone!

So to Pilote,

We’ve had a very busy few weeks working towards the completion of our website. Once launched, you’ll be able to shop for Automotive Art by the likes of Tim Layzell, Amy Shore and Paul Oz.

Epic driving routes, great places to stay and eat in the North East also feature, and most importantly, you’ll be able to browse and inquire about our handpicked selection of Classic, Sports and Prestige cars.

In helping to make all of the above happen, we were delighted to partner with renowned photographer, Rebekah Kennington.

Rebekah has photographed at many prestigious events, and we are very grateful for her patience, dedication and hard work in helping us to realise our vision for the imagery of the selection of cars on offer.

We hope to have the website live by the beginning of August, and we will alert you as soon as possible.
As to our next steps, we are nearing completion on our showroom facility, and as soon as we have the keys, work will commence on bringing Pilote to life, more on this to follow.
